iMovie is the native video editor from Apple for Mac devices.I just bought an old (2011) Macbook Pro and wanted to get iMovie on it, but the App Store will only allow you to try to download the most recent version which is not compatible with my computer (which can only go up to High Sierra). IMovie ’11 is an interesting mix of old and new. Once you have done that you will find that in High Sierra App Store Purchased App you will have the icon of iMovie and being able to download the most compatible version for High Sierra, that is archived and available only for customers that they have already purchased the app.I think it’s part of the OS (but you won’t get the last version obviously). I did a fresh install of High Sierra a month ago and got iMovie directly.

I don’t think iMovie will work on macOS High Sierra (macOS 10.13.6), because when my MacBook Pro was running High Sierra, in the App Store I typed ‘iMovie’.
